課程概述 |
This course focuses on the representation of sound within selected works of Marguerite Duras. It covers discussion of sound by important theorists such as Rick Altman and Michel Chion to develop student’s understanding of related debates in the sound field. In the second half of the semester, the student will be working on texts of Duras, including three of her short novels Moderato Cantabile, Dix heures et demie du soir en ete and L'apres midi de Monsieur Andesmas and two films Hiroshima mon Amour (playwright) and India Song (director). Through textual analysis and extensive secondary materials, the course offers fundamental knowledge necessary for Duras studies. |
課程目標 |
This course aims at familiarizing the student with current sound theories and further provides new angles for reading Duras’ works. The course builds a solid foundation for further research through selected texts in sound theories and secondary materials on Duras’ works. |
